In spite of greater policy and program support, progress towards global gender parity has slowed, and even declined in some cases. The 2014 Global Gender Gap Report, which measured the global gender gap over a nine year period, found that it will take the world 81 years to completely close the gender gap given the current rates of progress.
The UC San Diego Center on Gender Equity and Health is committed to building awareness, research and action towards greater gender parity worldwide. During International Women’s Day week, March 7th through March 11th, we ask you to join us, along with other community and student groups, in supporting gender parity by pledging online to close the gender gap.
On March 8th, 2016 the UC San Diego Students for Global Health group and the UC San Diego Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) will be hosting a Pledge for Gender Parity booth on UC San Diego’s Library Walk from 11am to 3pm. Participants will have the opportunity to fill out the pledge online in addition to other activities.
Help us to accelerate progress toward gender parity by making a #PledgeForParity now!
