& parking instructions:
The Institute of the Americas is located on campus at UCSD and not visible from Torrey Pines Rd. Parking on campus requires a permit (even in the evenings), and parking tickets on campus are a California infraction. Temporary permits can be purchased at self-service machines located in the front and back (right-hand side) of the Pangea parking structure - street-level. Note that the booths are unmanned. The cost is $1/hr, $3 for the evening. Credit cards accepted.
- 1) I-5
- 2) Exit on Genesee Ave. (see note 2 to use La Jolla Village Dr. exit).
- 3) If Northbound, turn LEFT off ramp, RIGHT if Southbound (West on Genesee).
- 4) Cross the stoplights at Science Center Dr. and Johns Hopkins Dr.
- 5) Turn LEFT at the next stoplight on N. Torrey Pines Rd.
- 6) Turn LEFT onto Pangea Dr. (at this point entering the UCSD campus).
- 7) Turn LEFT onto Scholars Dr. and immediately LEFT onto parking structure at the corner of Scholars and Pangea Drives. Pay for parking ticket at pay station and display it visibly on the car's dashboard.
- 8) Walk to Pangea Dr. and turn left, uphill (Thurgood Marshall Lane).
- 9) Turn left at the next driveway named International Lane. The Institute is located about 100 yards from the corner, on the
right. The only Spanish-style, red-tiled roof building on campus.
Note 1: If coming from La Jolla, take North Torrey Pines Rd. and turn RIGHT on Pangea Dr; then follow steps 7-9.
Note 2: You may also take the La Jolla Village Dr. exit off I-5 and turn WEST, drive straight to N. Torrey Pines and make a RIGHT on Pangea Dr.; then follow steps 7-9.
