Jaime Arredondo Sanchez Lira, is a candidate in the Joint Doctoral Program in Global Health at UCSD/SDSU. He worked during five years as Chief of Staff on the Ministry of Public Safety at the State Government in Quintana Roo, where he got broad experience in coordinating federal programs and establishing trust partnerships with local universities. He received his Master’s in Latin American Studies from the University of California, San Diego. As a future PhD his objective is to adapt and implement evidence-based interventions to modify the effect of policing practices and the judicial system as a major driver of mass incarceration of illicit drug users and the spread of blood borne infections (e.g. HIV, HCV), particularly in the US – Mexico border region.
