Kevin Cummins is a second-year doctoral student in the Joint Doctoral Program in Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use at San Diego State University and UC San Diego. Kevin holds both an undergraduate and master’s degree in biology, in addition to his master’s degree in statistics. He has worked as a statistician at Balboa Naval Hospital and for a medical device company where he helped to design and analyze clinical studies. For the last ten years, he has worked in Dr. Sandra Brown’s laboratory studying the neurological and psychosocial effects of adolescent substance use. Kevin is currently working on developing methodologies to measure short temporal scale linkages between substance use, neurological development, educational performance and achievement.
